Apparently, not everyone gets to go to Mexico or Florida over Spring Break every single year of your life... I've been extremely, and I realize EXTREMELY spoiled over the past 10 or so years. My parents bought a time share when I was in middle school at a lovely resort in Mazatlan, Mexico called Royal Villas. It's wonderful, really and one of the best parts of going there year
after year (minus 2002 - Florida and 2008 - Riviera Maya) was that we got to know the hotel staff, best restaurants and everything. Jesus (the waiter) swiftly brought me orange Fanta and club sandwiches, Silverio (the hotel activites fellow) would harass me while basking in the sun until I would play sand volleyball with him and other guests, etc. Emily would get heat rash and get crabby about culture differences. We'd all forget to put sunscreen on the most inconspicuous places like the tops of your ears. We'd sleep in late, go to bed early and lay around ALL DAY LONG. The perfect vacation...
This year, I wasn't quite so fortunate. Neither parent planned on taking us on a tropical vacation... WHAT?!?!?! Emily and I tried our hand at vacation planning and we failed. We decided we may go on a trip in June... here we are in April and we haven't really talked about it since... better get on that one... As I was saying, instead, I got to stay in Des Moines. It was actually an extremely restful week and it went by incredibly quickly. A few highlights...
