1. Commute to and from work - it's no secret that Hartford is really, REALLY far away from everywhere. My commute from my previous residences were really no different than this one, EXCEPT... there are NO good places to stop for coffee or morning treats/breakfast on my new route to work. This, you see, is good and bad. Money saving, yes. Convenient? No.
2. New-ness: I love how excited I am every day to come home from work and see the house... check out the plants that have sprung up and just be there. CON: I do NOT have a ton of extra time on my hands these days, with finishing the wedding planning and the school year rapidly coming to a close. I wish I could just PAUSE time to get everything in order and the house put together. As it stands, the spare bedroom is still a disaster zone.
3. Scaredy-Cat: I have never, EVER lived alone before. Ever. I am really looking forward to being married for several reasons and one of them being, I'll have a roommate again! :) All of the strange noises just really, REALLY creep me out sometimes.
[[Also, it's 45 days from now in case anyone has lost track ]] :)
4. Quirks: I feel like there are just some really hilarious things about this house. Here are some pictures to prove it:

What a gem. It's like we have a pet in a frame. But, low and behold, it's hiding THIS...

A very advanced security system. Yes, for real.

Then there's the mirror in the door frame. And the little candle looking nightlight.

But this quirk might be my favorite. A WOLF guarding the doorbell.
5. No dishwasher. Definite, absolute CON. :(
6. No garbage disposal. SERIOUS CON.
7. The fireplace and bay window are probably my FAVORITE things about the house. They just cozy it up so much and make it a really warm and inviting place to be.
8. Yard: TOTAL PRO. One of our neighbors mentioned that several years ago, our yard was really incredible. The couple who owned the home were elderly and just couldn't keep up with all of the yard work the past few years. The last few weeks have been spent raking, filling many, MANY lawn bags and trying to salvage what we could to spruce up the yard. I think I'm going to really enjoy spending time with Jed doing yard work. It doesn't hurt that he worked in landscaping for 2 years and really knows what he's doing. We have all kinds of things popping up in the yard - I'm most especially pumped about the lilac bushes and the mysterious plants growing in the side of the house by the driveway. We aren't quite sure what it will be but I can't wait to find out!
We have some kind of fun ideas about how to decorate and house projects we want to conquer in the near future. Hopefully they all get finished in timely and cost effective manner! :)
